RAL은 독일 RAL gGmbH에서 만들고 승인한 유럽에서 사용되는 색상 시스템입니다.
1927년에 독일 그룹인 Reichs-Ausschuß für Lieferbedingungen (National Committee for Delivery and Quality Assurance) RAL 840이라는 명목으로 40개의 색상을 개발했습니다.
RAL은 보통 4자리 숫자 조합을 하고 있습니다. 예를 들어 RAL 1028 이렇게, 첫번째 숫자는 시스템의 코드 넘버를 뜻합니다. (1: yellow, 2: orange, 3: red, 4: violet, 5: blue, 6: green, 7: grey, 8: brown and 9: white and black shades). 맨 첫자리 숫자만 봐도 대충 어떤 색인지 알 수 있겠네요.

1625 colours
RAL Design is a colour system containing 1625 colours following the internationally recognised CIELab system. RAL Design colour codes have seven digits whereas RAL Classic colour codes only have four digits.
